The Role of Producers & Sound Engineers on a song.

Like artists, record producers and sound engineers ought to build their respective brands and statuses. Despite being outranked by the artists, remember that these producers double as A&R talent scouts and coaches while playing a crucial role in aiding rappers find their comfortable voices.

Some artists may argue that their fans don't buy records based on the producer's reputation forgetting that in other circumstances, the producers call in favors to get the artist to another level, like Dj Khaled and Metro Boomin. What these two producers have made only points to the fact that in this present music world, a producer's name can hold significance to a fan's mind on the same level as a rapper's.

Take a second to reflect on this example; if the producer Alex Vice works with Wakadinali and produces a banger, then collaborates with Dyana Cods and gets another hit, then throws Sir Bwoy into the mix and smashes it again, fans are left with no option but to become the beatmakers fans because they appreciate the body of work running behind the scenes, the producer being the greatest common factor.

We see now that producers depend on systematically having their individual signatures included on the instrumentals because rappers always fail to name their beatmakers, who sometimes are co-writers in interviews and during performances.

Other producers like Cedo have taken their creativity to the road by attending artists like Nyashinki and Sauti Sol on tour to boost their live performances. Yet, these artists have done little to nothing about making this a known fact to the producer's fan base.

The beatmaker shapes the rapper into who they turn out to be. Producers should embody P. Diddy's hunger for wanting to be branded and well known to leave behind a remarkable legacy full of opportunities.

Whether established or upcoming, all Kenyan artists SHOULD make it a STRICT practice to extend CREDIT to their producers and sound engineers. To those who'd think otherwise, well, your opinion DOESN'T MATTER! Treat producers and sound engineers as your ARTISTIC EQUALS.
