Maya Amolo Works the Pole in Stripper-Inspired Visuals for "Can't Get Enough"

Kenyan music stakeholders, radio presenters, DJs, and fans justify the saying, "hypocrisy is the swine of modern civilization."

The multi-talented queen of hipster RnB Maya Amolo released a video for her single "Can't Get Enough," and true to her word, she isn't getting enough streams. She is struggling to get to five thousand views on Youtube despite having more than half a century of listens on Spotify.

Truth be told. No single mainstream female singer in Kenya can now match her creative ability, backed by her doll-like appearance, smooth skin, and her voice to boot.

You might argue that she's a Yankee, and she is, but having Kenyan roots means it's about time we created room for Maya in this industry that's not explicitly constructed for her.

Maya, at just 23, is already the first-ever artist to launch the Spotify Fresh Finds in Africa, which is a clear sign that she's doing something right and isn't waiting for anyone's approval.

The "Can't Get Enough" film, directed by Mumbi Muturi (Maya's mom), is shot in downtown Nairobi and the NIT Studios.

Visuals begin with a night scene which transitions quickly to a day scene with hotpants-wearing girls joining Maya at the bus stop. They board a pink matatu supplied by Matwana Culture, whose tout is the song's producer, Lukorito.

The girls have fun in the dimly lit vehicle, with Maya having scenes while hanging at the door. She also does something unprecedented in the Kenyan music industry midway through the song. She comes out rapping "Calm Down," an unreleased song she did with another artist, MR LU*.

Maya and her female posse of friends emerge in another look before Maya stunningly puts her body on display in a lingerie bodysuit. She works the pole in a stripper-inspired tape for "Can't Get Enough," which turns away from sad themes like "I Know."

The way Maya puts her acrobatic skills to use on the pole and her being from New York makes you want to side with Joe Budden when he called out New York strip clubs for not hiring black women, a common theme in almost every sphere of the American job market. They prefer Latino!

And that's not to say that Maya belongs to the strip clubs. The song is a love confession to a man in a sassy thought-provoking way which is why she does the pole routine bare feet and not on platform stripper heels( except when the song ends).

With the success of her debut EP "Leave Me At The Pregame" and a cameo on Buruklyn Boyz's debut album "East Mpaka London" on the song "Niskize," what more can Kenyans ask for that they think they more than deserve?

"Can't Get Enough" peaked at No.1 on the Purely Kenyan-R&B  by Drill Digest, her first song to top the chart, and should be a contender on other notable charts worldwide.
