Buruklyn Boyz’s Mr. Right Brings Hip Hop Fashion to New Video “Ach Her Back”

As they wait for the April release of the “East Mpaka London” album, Buruklyn Boyz’s Mr. Right undoubtedly has one of the most incredible videos of 2022 already with the release of “Ach Her Back.”

What sets Mr. Right apart from the rest of East African musicians, particularly the Kenyan drill music scene whose rappers have learned to cope with dysfunctional wardrobes, is his taste in fashion.

In this video shot in the streets of Buru Buru, Nairobi, and the adjacent Outtering Road flyover, you can see some iconic clothing brands sported previously by the who is who of the entertainment industry (sports and music).

Here are some hottest fashion references on the video:

New York Yankees White Home Jersey

ESPN sports channel wrote in 2010, “Everyone knows that Jay Z and the New York Yankees go together like lamb and tuna. Anyone who’s ever heard “New York State of Mind” or seen H.O.V.A hanging with A-Rod on a Yankees world series parade float knows that much”

Mr. Right’s fashion shouts in every video and picture online. In this video, he wears a New York Yankees jersey with black jeans and brand-new white Air Force 1s, which he raps,

ukitaka jo kubaki man step on my Air Force 1” (If you wanna get dropped, then step on my shoes). His blue bandana, famously associated with Buruklyn boyz in Kenya, completes the fold.

Wutang Clan Jacket

Mr. Right’s homeboys also went hard to support their own. One of them can be seen in the video wearing New York’s Wutang Clan’s white and orange jacket. Even if Wutang’s own Method Man never rocked with this merchandise, the jacket complements this visual so well.

Coogi T-Shirt

The Notorious BIG first mentioned the brand on "Big Poppa" and later "One More Chance" and was photographed wearing a Coogi sweater. Artists like Kanye West, Tyga, Rick Ross, and Asap Ferg have all gone on to give the label a mention.

The guy on a blue Coogi T-shirt must have impressed the director Joe Goldberg that he animated it on the video.

Dickies Work Shirt

Hip Hop rappers of the 90's heavily embraced the Latino and Hispanic workers' culture of pulling up on Dickies shirts and pants. Tupac and Beastie Boys were the first notable names to be seen donning Dickies.

Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and the two best-dressed rappers in hip-hop today, Asap Rocky and Kanye West, get credit for Dickies popularity.

Incorporating these brands only tells you how fashion-conscious Mr. Right is because the Dickies label on his friend's shirt is zoomed for all to see in the video.

New York Jets Jersey

In 2018, The New York football franchise teamed up with Def Jam Recording in a bid to churn our entertaining content for the ever-growing number of young fans. A very excited young man can be seen on the "Ach Her Back" video as they climb the steps of the flyover, where he stops to engage the camera for a few seconds. He is wearing a New York Jets Jersey.

In 2021, Mr. Right set the Kenya Drill Music ablaze with his two back-to-back hits, "Piga Lean" and "Woosh Woosh." His diehards had something to look forward to, being that Mr. Right had missed Big Yasa's "Wapoa Live Experience."
