Are Producers Lazy For Using Loops?

Most dance genres like hip-hop, pop, electro, dancehall and our very own kapuka lean heavily on producers using loops. Contrary to what you’d think, the use of loops is no form of cheating. Upcoming producers have developed massive hits using this technique alone in the past. While beginner producers do looping as a mere drag and drop procedure, top professionals may choose to attack it differently by using the loop to structure a whole new vibe for a song to make it almost unrecognisable. So, while “Geri Inengi” is a product of loop usage and becoming a huge song, we should move to an era where different hands join in mixing, mastering, and engineering music instead of a single hand. It’s our only chance to reach the levels of looping pioneers like Grandmaster Flash, who took popular radio hits, cut the best parts to play at house parties as a DJ and eventually made good music.
